Places to Visit Outside Malaga
The holiday resort of Torremolinos is an 11-mile drive south on the A7 from Malaga. Travel a little further to Fuengirola, a large town with a Moorish fortress and its own zoo and breeding facility situated in the Bioparc. Take a walk along the walls at the Old Harbour. June, when the annual music festival is held in the grounds of Sohail Castle, is a particularly good time to visit.
Parking and Traffic Information in Malaga
Most of the major attractions are in the centre of Malaga. Those planning to drive around the city should remember that it is a major tourist venue and there can be a significant volume of traffic. It is perfectly possible to drive around the city, although drivers are advised to avoid the Old Quarter, with its convoluted one-way system and restricted zones. The busiest times to travel are 8.30 a.m. to 9.30 a.m., 1.30 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The general rule in respect of parking is the closer you are to the city centre, the higher the tariff. Although there is some cheaper Blue Zone street parking, drivers are restricted to a stay of two hours.
