Birkenhead Park dates from the 1840s and was the first public park of its kind in the UK. It contains two lakes and a variety of intriguing architectural features. There are also frequent electric trains from Liverpool and Chester. The Kingsway and Queensway Tunnels connect the Wirral peninsula to Liverpool, while the M53 and M56 join the town to the main north-south M6 Motorway.
